Notes on cookies and tracking

The legal basis for cookies that are technically absolutely necessary in order to provide you with the expressly requested service is § 25 para. 2
No.2
TTDSG.
Any use of cookies that is not absolutely technically necessary for this purpose constitutes data processing that can only be carried out with your express and active consent in accordance with Section 25 (1) GDPR.
§ 25 para.1
TTDSG i.V.m. Art. 6 para. 1
S.1 lit.a DSGVO is permitted.
This applies in particular to the use of performance, advertising, targeting or sharing cookies.
In addition, we only pass on your personal data processed by cookies to third parties if you have given your consent in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1
S.1 lit.a DSGVO have given your express consent to this.
You can find more detailed information on the individual services under the respective headings.

Use of cookies

Cookies are used on our website.
Cookies are small text files that are stored locally in the cache of the visitor’s Internet browser.
They are used, for example, to make websites more user-friendly or to preset the language and enable us to recognize your Internet browser.

If you do not want cookies to be set, you usually have to change your browser settings.
Most browsers accept cookies automatically.
You can prevent cookies from being stored on your device by selecting “Do not accept cookies” in your browser settings.
You can delete cookies already stored on your device at any time.
You can find the details in the instructions for your browser or device manufacturer.
If you reject the use of cookies, we will only be able to track your visit to our website with restrictions.
However, you may also only be able to use our website to a limited extent.

Cookies from third-party providers

Third-party cookies are also set on our website.
This can also be prevented in the browser settings.

The following cookies are used:

1. google marketing services and google adwords conversion

The “Google Marketing Services” of Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA, (“Google”) are used on our website.

With the help of Google Marketing Services, we can show users advertisements that are likely to match their interests.
Remarketing” is the term used when a user is presented with advertisements for products that they have viewed on other websites.

In order to be able to do this technically, a code from Google is executed directly on our website and on other websites (which use Google marketing services) and certain (re)marketing tags are integrated into the website (these can be invisible graphics or code snippets).
This saves an individual cookie for the user (comparable technologies can also be used instead of cookies).
These cookies contain information about which websites the user has visited and what they were interested in.
In addition, technical information on the browser and operating system, referring websites, time and other information on the use of the websites and the IP address are stored.

The user data is processed pseudonymously.
This means that Google does not store or process the user’s name or email address, but processes the relevant data within pseudonymous profiles.
(This does not apply if a user has expressly allowed Google to process the data without pseudonymization).
The information collected by Google marketing services about users is transmitted to Google and stored on Google servers in the USA.

In the case of Google AdWords (online advertising program), each AdWords customer is assigned a different “conversion cookie”.
The cookie is used to generate conversion statistics for AdWords customers.
AdWords customers find out the total number of users who have clicked on their ad.
However, they do not receive any information that can be used to identify users.

Further information on the use of data for marketing purposes by Google can be found on this overview page.

You can find Google’s privacy policy .

To object to interest-based advertising by Google marketing services, you can use the opt-out options provided by Google.

2. google universal analytics

We also use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (“Google”).
Google uses cookies.
The information generated by the cookie about the use of the online offer by the user is usually transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there.

We use Google Analytics in the form of “Universal Analytics”.
“Universal Analytics” refers to a Google Analytics process in which the user analysis is based on a pseudonymous user ID and thus a pseudonymous profile of the user is created with information from the use of different devices (so-called “cross-device tracking”).
We only use Google Analytics with activated IP anonymization.
This means that the IP address of Google users within member states of the European Union or in other signatory states to the Agreement on the European Economic Area is shortened.
Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and truncated there.

The IP address transmitted by the user’s browser will not be merged with other Google data.
Users can prevent the storage of cookies by setting their browser software accordingly; users can also prevent the collection of data generated by the cookie and related to their use of the online offer to Google and the processing of this data by Google by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available here.

Further information on the use of data by Google as well as setting and objection options can be found in Google’s privacy policy and in the settings for the display of advertisements by Google.

3. facebook

We operate a Facebook page on the basis of a “” with Facebook Ireland Ltd, 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbour, Dublin 2, Ireland. The processing of users’ personal data is based on our legitimate interest in effectively informing users and communicating with them in accordance with Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. If the platform provider has obtained consent for data processing, the legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (a) and Art. 7 GDPR.

Facebook pixel, custom audiences and Facebook conversion
Within our online offer, the so-called “Facebook pixel” of the social network Facebook is used, which is operated by Facebook Inc, 1 Hacker Way, Menlo Park, CA 94025, USA, or if you are resident in the EU, Facebook Ireland Ltd, 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbour, Dublin 2, Ireland (“Facebook”).

With the help of the Facebook pixel, it is possible for Facebook to determine the visitors of our online offer as a target group for the display of ads (so-called “Facebook ads”).
Accordingly, we use the Facebook pixel to display the Facebook ads placed by us only to those Facebook users who have also shown an interest in our online offering or who have certain characteristics (e.g. interests in certain topics or products determined on the basis of the websites visited) that we transmit to Facebook (so-called “custom audiences”).
With the help of the Facebook pixel, we also want to ensure that our Facebook ads correspond to the potential interest of users and are not annoying.
With the help of the Facebook pixel, we can also track the effectiveness of Facebook ads for statistical and market research purposes by seeing whether users were redirected to our website after clicking on a Facebook ad (so-called “conversion”).

Facebook processes the data in accordance with Facebook’s data usage policy.
General information on the display of Facebook ads can be found in Facebook’s data usage policy.
Specific information and details about the Facebook pixel and how it works can be found in Facebook’s help section.

You can object to the collection by the Facebook pixel and use of your data to display Facebook ads.
To set which types of ads are displayed to you within Facebook, you can go to the page set up by Facebook and follow the instructions on the settings for usage-based advertising.
The settings are platform-independent, i.e. they are adopted for all devices, such as desktop computers or mobile devices.

beegy.com uses “Shariff” social media buttons with data protection

With Shariff, you can use social media without unnecessarily compromising your privacy.
The c’t project Shariff replaces the usual share buttons of social networks and protects your surfing behavior from prying eyes.
Nevertheless, a single click on the button is enough to share information with others.
You don’t have to do anything else – the webmaster has already taken care of everything.

The usual social media buttons transmit user data to Facebook & Co. every time you visit a page and provide the social networks with precise information about your surfing behavior (user tracking).
You do not need to be logged in or a member of the network to do this.
In contrast, a Shariff button only establishes direct contact between the social network and the visitor when the latter actively clicks on the share button.
In this way, Shariff prevents you from leaving a digital trail on every page you visit and improves data protection.
You can then like, +1 or tweet as you wish – the social network does not receive any more information.

Thanks to Shariff, the “Likes” are displayed by the operator of the page with the buttons.
Because Shariff is integrated by the webmaster, you as a visitor do not have to do anything else.
